It’s been 50 years since several Trinity alumni formed the Friends of the Library, which has become a source of great friends, and a legendary alumni volunteer and fundraising dream team.
The Friends are planning to celebrate their 50th with events throughout this year, including:
- Summer reception: Friends of the Library and their supporters are invited to join us on Friday, May 30, from 2:00-4:30 p.m. in the Graham Library. Register now for this special celebration!
- Memory collection project:Please share your memories, photos or other memorabilia as soon as possible! Some may be used in promotional materials; all will become part of the Trinity College Friends of the Library organizational record in the Trinity College Archives. The Friends are also aiming to collaborate with the Trinity Archives and Trinity Historical Society on an oral history project later in the year.
- New Friends of the Library swag: Stay tuned for more details on our 50th anniversary merchandise, available for purchase soon!
- Short Story Contest: The challenge: Write a short fiction or non-fiction piece on any topic with a tangible and identifiable connection to Trinity College or The Graham Library. Maximum 1,500 words. Works should be previously unpublished and written in English. Deadline is Monday, Sept. 22. Winners will receive cash prizes and much admiration. Stay tuned for submission details.
- Book Club: Running from June to November, with one book per decade of the Friends’ existence. Stay tuned to the FOTL webpage for registration information.
- And of course, don’t forget the Book Sale! The Friends are now accepting books for the 2025 Book Sale. Visit the FOTL page on the Trinity website to learn more, or email fotlbookdonation@gmail.com to arrange a drop-off or pick-up.
- The Friends of the Library Christmas Party: The must-attend, members-only event of the year. This anniversary evening will include special musical performances and a few surprises! Early December date to be confirmed.
