Trinity Alum Gives Students VIP Lab Tour

Trinity field trip to Toronto Western Hospital

Fourteen Trinity students took advantage of an exclusive opportunity this spring, thanks to alumnus Jerry Li ’20. Li, whose doctoral research focuses on combining machine learning, neuroimaging, and epigenetics to help patients with chronic facial pain, gave the students a behind-the-scenes tour of his dry lab at Toronto Western Hospital.

“I jumped at the chance to take this tour. It was fascinating to see a 3D model of a disease — but the best part was being able to chat one-on-one afterward with Jerry about his computational research,” says third-year student William Unal-Ferreira Da Silva, who is majoring in Psychology. Da Silva is considering a career in health care.

“Due to the success of this tour, we will be exploring more ‘field trips’ to labs and offices through the alumni career mentorship program,” says Trinity’s Academic Advisor for Career Exploration & Education, Cherryl-Lyn Olamuyiwa. “These opportunities add tremendous value to the Trinity student experience!”
